GREENSBORO &045; Mary F. Williams, 86, of the Lock 5 Community in Greensboro died on February 27, 2007 at Bryan Whitfield Hospital of Demopolis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gallion. The Rev. Donald White will officiate. Interment will follow in Mickens Cemetery in Greensboro. The remains will repose beginning at 1 p.m. at the church on Saturday Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis are in charge of the arrangements.

CLEVELAND, Ohio &045; Cynthia Paige-Dorsey, 42, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Demopolis died on February 24, 2007 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Demopolis.

The Rev. Honoree Lockett will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Demopolis.

The remains will repose beginning at 1 p.m. at the church on Tuesday. Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis are in charge of the arrangements.

Georgia Hill

COATOPA &045; Georgia Hill of Coatopa died on March 1, 2007 at Trinity-Montclair Medical Center in Birmingham. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis.

Abraham Crockett

LIVINGSTON &045; Abraham Crockett, 86, of Livingston died on February 26, 2007 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at New Prospect Baptist Church in Livingston with the Rev. Cephus Simmons officiating.

Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with McInnis Mortuary of Livingston directing.

Visitation is from 1 until 6 p.m. today at the mortuary and an hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Marie Calhoun Barnette Gibbs

GREENSBORO &045; Marie Calhoun Barnette Gibbs, 86, died on Friday, February 23, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services were at 2 p.m. at Way Cross Bible Methodist Church in Perry County on Monday, Feb. 26, with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Brian Consley and Ron McCormick conducted the services with Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel in charge of the arrangements. The body lied in state from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. The family received friends in the church following the service.

Gibbs was formerly of the North Perry Community, she had been a resident of Colonial Haven Care and Rehabilitation Center for the past two years. She was affectionately known as &8220;Miss Marie&8221; by her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Luther Clifford Barnette; her parents, Otha Everette and Gracie Mayfield; and a bother, Sidney Leon Calhoun and her second husband, the Rev. D. J. Gibbs.

Survivors include three sons; Wayne L. Barnette and wife, Rebecca Clements of Raleigh, N.C.; Welton Gibbs and wife, Jewel of Anniston; John Gibbs and wife, Martha of Gaylesville; four daughters, Viva Dean Faught and husband, Ellis of Greensboro, Gail McCulley and husband, Earl, Joyce Stewart and husband, Travis and Sharon Golden and husband, Bill, all of Anniston; a brother, Ferrell Calhoun and wife, Chris of Marion; a sister Mary Creel of Brent; 17 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Wendell Barnette, Don Clements, Spence Clements, Darrell Cook, Dennis Drake, Jack Gibson, Lorenzo Kynard and Tommy Washburn. Honorary pallbearers, were staff and residents of Colonial Haven Care and Rehabilitation Center, members of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, and members of Way Cross Bible Methodists Church.

Charles Edward Chapman Jr.

SAWYERVILLE &045; Charles Edward Chapman Jr., 81, of Sawyerville died on Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 at Kirk Funeral Home’s Greensboro Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Thomas officiating.

Chapman was known to everyone as &8220;Big Paw.&8221; He was born May 21, 1925 in Perry County. He started logging when he was 25 years-old and drive a log truck until he became ill two weeks ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ada Chapman; sister, Louise Livingston and brother, James Robert Chapman.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn L. Chapman of Sawyerville; his daughters, Linda Plowman and her husband, Danny of Gordo; Gloria Turner of Greensboro; her son, Charles Millard Chapman and his wife, Patricia of Sawyerville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chip Chapman, Chad Chapman, Shannon Bailey, Steven Harper, Wade Sluder and Richard Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers were J. R. Martin, Jack Davis, Bill Nichols, Harry Tinker, employees of Chapman Logging, Roebuck Landing friends and Greensboro Farmers’ Co-op friends.

Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

SAWYERVILLE &045; Johnny L. Plott of Sawyerville died on Feb. 26, 2007 at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3 at Agnew Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Dedrick Family Cemetery in Sawyerville. Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 5 p.m. today, Friday, March 2 at Agnew Funeral Home. Agnew Funeral Home of Greensboro is in charge of the arrangements.

SAWYERVILLE &045; Percy Lee Lyles, 60, of Sawyerville died on Feb. 24, 2007 at the Hale County Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Sawyerville with the Rev. S.L. Cunningham officiating. Burial will be held in the Evans Family Cemetery in Sawyerville. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 7 p.m. at Washington&Paige Mortuary Chapel. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
