DEMOPOLIS &045; The Chamber of Commerce chose Frank Osborne for the coveted Citizen of the Year Award for his broad range of services in the community.

The chamber began awarding the Citizen of the Year Award, which recognizes the individual who has made the most significant and outstanding contributions to the Demopolis area over the course of a year, at its 1981 banquet. The award has since become a platform to showcase and applaud the efforts of individuals who foster community mindness and has become one of the most prestigious awards bestowed within the community.

Osborne, a Boston native who has lived in Demopolis eight years, has immersed himself in the community since his arrival. He is a member of the Rotary Club, serving as director, secretary and contributing time to the club’s community functions, and he is active in the Demopolis Country Club, serving as secretary of the Men’s Golf Association and on the Board of Directors.

Osborne is a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and volunteers time serving on the finance committee and being a member of the knights of Columbus Roundtable.

Osborne has also left a mark on the education of Demopolis through his work spearheading the Tiger Court Project for the Demopolis City Schools Foundation and is heading the Endowment Fund Campaign this year.

Osborne received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Indiana University. He and his wife, Lucette, have two daughters, Ellen and Elizabeth.
