Boredom during a hospital stay occurs on a regular basis. Patients are forced to use their imagination to keep their minds off illnesses and ailments.

However, this Friday patients and their visitors can use Imagine Nation to give them a little something different to do.

From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Imagine Nation Books ill set up hundreds of good reads in the Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital main lobby for the annual Back-to-School Book Fair as part of the BWWMH Auxiliary’s fundraising efforts.

“This is out second time using this company and I think most people were happy with their purchases last time. We are looking forward to having another success,” Auxiliary president Brenda Parr said. “This is a good time to have a book sale with school starting again and the fall coming in. The books basically sell themselves so it’s a great fundraiser. Last year we raised about $1,000 which isn’t bad for a six-hour sale.”

Actively sourcing from more than 275 publishers and manufacturers, Imagine Nation offers approximately 350 new titles every season in addition to exclusive products, stationary, adult and children’s best sellers, bath and body supplies, children’s gifts, educational supplies, stories, language aids, cookbooks, craft books, early learning supplies, religious, foreign language and general interest books.

“They bring a various selection of things with them,” Parr said. “They have stuff for babies all the way up to adults.”

Proceeds from the book sale benefit the Bryan Whitfield Memorial hospital.

“All the money is used to buy equipment and supplies for the hospital,” Parr said. “We are all thrilled to have such a nice facility and we want to do everything we can do to help it stay that way.”

This will be the Auxiliary’s first fundraiser since April, however the group will be on a roll as they continue fundraising efforts this fall with a uniform sale, a jewelry sale and community blood drive.

“We are just getting back on track and recharging our batteries,” Parr said. “We were kind of on a break for the summer but now we are ready to do it again.”
