Just the first two innings of the Demopolis Tigers’ game Tuesday would have been a good day for most teams.

The Tigers scored 13 runs in each of the first two innings to cruise to a 29-0, five-inning win against region rival Greene County.

After jumping up 26-0, the Tigers leveled off, with two in the third and another in the fourth to seal the win.

The Tiger offense was impressive, but the defense was just as good allowing only one hit and securing the shutout.

Bart Butler earned the win with only one inning of work as he struck out all three Greene County batters he faced on nine pitches.

Reid Gardner came in o thrown the final four innings of play allowing just one hit in the fourth inning and fanning six.

The Tiger bats swatted everything close and had several notable performances.

Luke Massey, Justin Davis and Gardner were all a perfect 2-2 at the plate. Gardner added three RBI and Massey had another.

David Kent was 4-5 with two RBI and a double, while Rob Quinney was 3-4 with an RBI and two doubles.

Hunter Hawley had another good day at the plate turning in a 2-3 performance, scoring four times and batting in two.

The Tigers, now 8-8 on the year, travel to Bibb County today. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
