The Demopolis Lady Tiger volleyball team was scheduled to participate in a tri-match Monday night, but will end up playing three matches in total instead of just two due to a scheduling confusion with Hale County High School.

Demopolis faced off against American Christian Academy in the first match. The Tigers got off to a big lead early in the first set, at one point leading 18-9. ACA did not lie down, though, as they were able to come back and take the first set 26-24.

The Tigers did not get discouraged though. They battled through the second set after falling behind early and were able to overtake the Patriots 25-22.

In the third and final set, Demopolis fell behind early 4-1, but fought back again to win the set 15-10, which gave them the match as well.

“Being able to come back after the first set means that we are growing as a team,” head coach Blythe Smith said. “It shows that we can take defeat and still come back and win. I just told them to take it one point at a time.”

The Lady Tigers faced Greensboro in their second match of the night, and lost two out of three sets (25-23, 22-25, 6-15). In the third match of the night against Hale County, they won in three sets (25-19, 19-25, 15-8).
