Nutcracker coming to Sumter County

The Sumter County Fine Arts Council continues the 05-06 season with a presentation of The Nutcracker performed by the Montgomery Ballet on Thursday, December 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Bibb Graves Auditorium on the campus of the University of West Alabama.

Celebrate the holiday season with The Montgomery Ballet as they present the full-length Christmas classic,The Nutcracker. This exciting favorite brings together The Professional Company, The Youth Ballet, The Montgomery Ballet School students and members of the community. Set to the stirring music of Tchaikovsky, the ballet tells the story of a young Clara and her toy nutcracker. When her Christmas present suddenly comes to life, he leads Clara and the audience on a magical journey.

Tickets for The Nutcracker may be purchased at the door. Admission is $7 for adults and $2 for students.University of West Alabama students are admitted free with student identification card.

Cosi Fan Tutti presented by Capitol City Opera, a spring concert by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and a concert by the Celtic group Henri’s Notions in conjunction with the Sucarnochee Folk Life Festival.
