GREENSBORO – According to Greensboro police chief Claude Hamilton, human behavior changes with the seasons.

“It’s that time of the year when the number of burglaries begin to increase,” Hamilton said.

Police reports said the Greensboro Watchman newspaper office on Market Street was burglarized Nov. 11 and $200 was reported missing.

According to reports, a second burglary occurred at a Cashew Road residence Nov. 13 when a desktop computer, DVD player, Playstation 2 game console, leather coat, stereo, laptop computer, television, camcorder and pictures were reported missing.

A home on Hutchinson Lane reported a DVD player, firearm and a collection of coins missing Nov. 15, police reports said.

“There was also a break-in at the Hale County Water Board and at a local church,” Hamilton said. “But we’ve collected evidence from the scenes and hope to have someone in custody soon.”

The Greensboro Police Department isn’t the only force facing holiday thefts.

Hale County Sheriff’s Department reports have documented four burglaries between Nov. 14 and Nov. 15 and the Marion Police Department also reported four since Nov. 10.

Although area forces are attempting to keep the number of burglaries down this holiday season, Hamilton said he hopes citizens will keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.

“Like I said, it’s that time of the year,” Hamilton said. “I just want to tell the citizens to be on the lookout and stay safe.”
