Ottis Leavern Morris, age 73, of Sawyerville, died Oct. 16 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Morris was born Nov. 1, 1938, in Hale County to the late Boyd and Lillie Bell Erwin Morris.

The funeral was held Oct. 18 at Bible Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Vernon and Kenneth Justice officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. Burial was in Johnson Cemetry. The family received friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 6-8 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his father, Boyd Morris; his mother, Lillie B. Kirk; his stepfather, R.G. Kirk; and his granddaughter, Brandy Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Freda Johnson Morris; his children, Leigh Ann Witherspoon (Jim) and Johnny Morris (Jean), both of Greensboro; his grandchildren, Marlowe Witherspoon, Grace Witherspoon, Jami Witherspoon, David Clark, Autumn Kitchen, and Shelby Kitchen; and special friend, Sheila Smith. Pallbearers will be Patrick Howard, Danny Coley, Keith Phillips, Donald Morrison, James Gardner and Jim Putman.

Honorary pallbearers include Yvonne Rhodes, Billy Wilson, Maurice Hughey, Wayne Osburn, Thomas and Bobby Abernathy, Charlene Latham, Joe and Cherie Steakley, Gayle Seale, Andrea Whaley, Bob and Beverly Hamilton, Ronnie and Barbara Hallmon, Buddy Himson, Bruce Langham, Ollie McAdams, Don Morris, Doyle and Christy Northcutt, Otis Gardner, customers of Morris Small Motors, Bible Methodist church family, Southern Care Hospice and Alabaam respiratory of Greensboro staff.
