THOMASTON – Enjoy a concert and help Hurricane Katrina victims.

“It may have to be a Katrina/Rita benefit,” Gayle Etheridge, director of the Alabama Rural Heritage Foundation, said. “One hundred percent of the proceeds got to Katrina relief in Alabama.”

The gates of the Heritage Center in Thomaston will open at 5 p.m. for families to picnic and enjoy the outdoors. Kids for Christ will sell lemonade and there will also be sodas and water for sale.

Etheridge suggests families bring food, quilts, chairs and bug spray to make the experience more enjoyable.

She asks that no alcohol be brought onto the premises since it is a family event.

At 6:30 the Hale County band, County Road 4, and the Joy Choir will perform as Linden City Council member Mitzi Gates will sing and serve as hostess of the night.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ten and under.

“It’s our turn to give back. We’ve worked over a three year period to get a new building and now we have this premium space,” Etheridge said. “We are blessed it didn’t happen to us.”

Etheridge said County Road 4 is a great band and the concert will serve as both a chance to enjoy family time and support the hurricane effort.

“It’s an evening to relax and do something for our fellow man.”
