Tigers split week of action

Demopolis added two wins in four tries over the past week to improve to 7-5 overall.

They defeated Sweet Water 9-2 and Northridge 5-1, but they lost to Hillcrest 3-2 and American Christian Academy 10-1 on Monday.

They will travel to Clarkdale on Friday and play a doubleheader on the road with Theodore at noon and Baker at 2 p.m.

 

Demopolis 2, Hillcrest 3

Three Patriot runs in the top of the fifth inning proved to be the difference in the pitcher’s duel.

Colton Colgrove, Roper Houldhitch and Jake Bumgarner all had two hits in the loss. Colgrove and Bumgarner’s hits were both doubles. Tucker Capps had the other hit for Demopolis.

Houldhitch took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks with a strikeout. JW McAlpine started the game and allowed one run on two hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Bryce McElroy had a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.

 

Demopolis 5, Northridge 1

After Northridge cut the lead to 2-1 in the fourth inning, the Tigers responded with three in the bottom of the inning to get separation for the win. 

Jake Powell had a double and a run scored while Bryant Deas, Colton Colgrove and Bryce McElroy all had hits. Tucker Capps also had an RBI. 

Colgrove took the win going six and one-third innings allowing one run on seven hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Braxton Vice got the last two outs, one being a strikeout.

 

Demopolis 1, American Christian 10

Jake Bumgarner, Roper Houldhitch and Bryant Deas had the only hits for Demopolis. Deas had the RBI to score Jake Powell.

Bumgarner took the loss allowing six earned runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Jackson Hasty pitched four innings allowing three runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
