DHS celebrates homecoming week

Demopolis High School is getting set for homecoming festivities starting on Oct. 3 and running until the night of Oct. 7 when the Tiger football team battles the Sumter Central Jaguars.
Per the usual tradition for high school homecomings, DHS will have theme days and activities running throughout the week starting Monday with “teacher kidnapped” day where classes have a free day with movies, popcorn and coke. Also the themed dress up from Oct. 3 is “Grannies vs. Babies” where juniors and seniors dress as grandparents while freshmen and sophomores dress as babies.
Tuesday will we “Fratastic” day where students will dress up in stereotypical members of Greek lettered organizations.
On Wednesday, Oct. 5, students can participate in “Rappers vs. Rockers” fun day.
Also, on both Tuesday and Wednesday, homecoming float decorating will take place at the National Guard Armory building from 6 to 8 p.m.
The Homecoming Pep Rally and Bonfire will be on Oct. 6 starting at 6 p.m. The dress-up theme for the school day is “Jersey Day.”
Finally, the week will conclude with the homecoming parade at 1 p.m. and the crowning of the queen during halftime of the evening’s football game.
This year’s homecoming court includes senior maids Baleigh Holtzclaw, Ja’Kayla Bell and Allison Polk; junior maids, Ashleigh Ivory and India Woodard; sophomore maids Kamryn Harris and Stevie Fields and Freshmen maids Aundria Murdock and Kamryn Harris.
