Linden BOE raises pay for substitute nurses
The Linden Board of Education raised the pay for substitute nurses at the most recent BOE meeting on Dec. 16. Registered nurses will receive $125 per day and licensed practical nurses will receive $100 per day. The previous rate was $65 per day.
The board also authorized the board president and vice president to access the school district’s credit card in order to make reservations for upcoming professional development opportunities.
Other approved items include the financial statements and bank account reconciliations for November and an item on the superintendent’s recommendations list.
Board President Ola Ford informed the BOE that a Linden Elementary School teacher has complained of her heating unit not working in the classroom. She is currently using an electric heater. Superintendent Timothy Thurman said he would look into resolving the issue.
Board member Donte’ Dukes also asked when the topic of relaxing school uniforms would be discussed by the board as the possibility was mentioned at a previous meeting. Thurman said it would be discussed at the January meeting. The school uniforms currently consist of khaki pants as well as red shirts at LES and Linden High School and blue shirts at George P. Austin Junior High School.
The Linden Board of Education meets the fourth Monday of each month at the main office at 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
