Man killed after fall from tree stand
A Marengo County man died Monday after falling from a tree stand on his property near Thomaston.
James Holley, 74, was on the tree stand when it gave way causing him to fall approximately 8 feet, according to Marengo County Coroner John Scott. Holley was pronounced dead at the scene.
A lumber company was on Holley’s property cutting timber and it is believed he was in the tree stand watching the work being done. At approximately 1:34 p.m., the stand gave leading to Holley’s fall.
The coroner and AMSTAR Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
