Alabama State Troopers are working several weather related crashes on I-59 (southbound) between the 16 and 23 mile marker in Sumter County.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency encourages motorists to exercise extreme caution while traveling in the area.

National Weather Service: Snow, Sleet Accumulation expected: 10 a.m.
A rain and sleet mix has started falling in Demopolis.
The National Weather Service is calling for accumulating wintry precipitation today through early Saturday across portions of Central Alabama, including Marengo and neighboring counties. Snow and sleet accumulation are most likely along the I-59 corridor and north of the I-85 corridor where 1.5 to 3 inches of snow and sleet accumulation are possible. Please remain aware of quickly changing weather conditions. Travel conditions will likely be impacted.
The NWS says temperatures early Sunday morning will fall into the mid-teens and lower 20s, approaching hard freeze criteria across portions of North Central Alabama.

Demopolis schools and Marengo Academy have been closed today and Linden schools were releasing at noon.
