Marengo Academy travels to Sumter

Marengo Academy looks as if they will be returning to the playoffs this season, but their placement hangs in the balance as they travel to Sumter Academy (4-4, 4-1) this week to take on the Eagles.

The Longhorns (4-4, 3-2) need a win this week to force a possible three-way tie for second in the region with Sumter Academy and Sparta Academy, who defeated the Longhorns last week.

Head coach Robby James said his team has to eliminate the mistakes they have been making and continue to play hard down the stretch.

“Last week, we made a lot of mistakes that likely cost us the game,” he said. “We’ve got to play a lot better than we did, and eliminate those mistakes. Sumter is a big, strong team.”
