Genealogy fair to be held Saturday

Alabama’s Canebrake Genealogical Society and Library, a Division of the Marengo County History and Archives Museum, will hold a free Genealogy Fair: Exploring Your Family Tree, Oct. 20, 10 a.m.– 3 p.m., at the Marengo County History and Archives Museum located at the Rosenbush Building.

The society will showcase and exhibit some successful family research along with ancestral photographs.

Genealogy professionals will be on hand to provide information and guidance for those who have hit a brick wall and help those budding family historians get started on their family trees.

A one hour beginners course will begin at 1 p.m. Free access to Ancestry.com.

The Marengo County History and Archives Museum (MCHAM) also received a $1000 donation from the US Jones Grand School Reunion.

The donation will go towards MCHAM’s goal of establishing a state-of-the-art museum for Marengo County. The museum will be housed at the Rosenbush Building.
