Mary Hamilton “Nanny” Ezell

Mary Hamilton “Nanny” Ezell, age 85, of Lavaca died on Dec. 15, 2008, at her residence.
She was born on March 8, 1923, in Sweet Water. She was the owner of Ezell’s Fishcamp and a retired postmistress at the Lavaca Post Office.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 3 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church in Lavaca with the Rev. Mike Dawson and the Rev. Sam Owens officiating. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery in Lavaca. Visitation was at Hopewell Baptist Church on Dec. 17 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler directed the services.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Ezell Hall of Lavaca; two sons, Charles Agnew (Mary Anna) Ezell III of Tuscaloosa and Joe Hamilton (Mary) Ezell of Destin, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Agnew Ezell Jr., and a grandson, Michael Hamilton Ezell.
Pallbearers included Walter Wayne Hall Jr., Ervin Agnew Hall, Charles Agnew Ezell IV, Brian Hart Ezell, Oliver Hamilton Ezell and Christopher Clark Ezell.
