David Vick, Jr.

David T. Vick Jr. passed away on June 11, 2010, at Hale County Hospital in Greensboro.
He was born on Feb. 8, 1927, in Marengo County to the Late David T. and Mattie Lee Maness Vick. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having spent two years in Italy. He earned a degree in pharmacy from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) and bought Home Drug in Greensboro, which he owned for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary LeVert Poellnitz; and his son, David T. Vick III.
Survivors include his daughter, Octavia Vick (Alfred Foots) Johnson of greensboro; two sisters, Sue Vick (Ellis) Cochran of Gallion and Rhee Vick (Robert) Duke of Gallion; three grandchildren, Valerie Leann Vick, William Bryant Vick and David Alexander Johnson; four nephews, Robert M. Duke, Daniel C. Duke, Stephen E. Cochran and Kenneth V. Cochran; and a niece, Brenda Duke Melton.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 13, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greensboro with Father Richard Cobbs officiating. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Parrish House before the service. Burial followed in the Greensboro Cemetery. Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directed the services.
