Week full of benefit events

As members of the West Alabama Senior Center, John Wilson and Polly Hill and their friends will get benefits from Saturday's car and truck show.

On Thursday and Saturday, a number of events took place around Demopolis where people helped raise funds for worthy causes.
On Thursday, students at U.S. Jones Elementary School held its Schoolfest to celebrate having raised funds to help keeps their clasrooms well-supplied.
On Saturday, there were a number of fundraisers going on around town:
•A car and truck show at the city landing field to raise funds for the West Alabama Senior Center to make field trips and for Anna-Coleman Yelverton, who is a young cancer patient.
•A bike rally that drew several bike clubs from around west Alabama to raise funds for Mark Walker, a member of the local Dirty South Slab Ryders Bike Club who suffered severe injuries in an accident two weeks ago.
•A fishing tournament at the city landing and bake sale at the PeeWee League football games to help Hunter Lewis.
Other fundraisers will occur over the months to come providing the people in our area a chance to help where they can.
