The Demopolis High School DECA Club will sponsor a 5k run for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Saturday. The event, which is the first of what the club hopes to make an annual event, will become one of the club’s annual fund raising staples sponsor Lucina Mason. Thus far, the club has approximately 25 runners signed up but Mason said there is plenty of room for more.

“We’re hoping for 100 runners,” she said, “but we’ll be tickled with 50 or ever how many show up.” The route will follow the Jingle Bell Run route and a clock will be provided by Tuscaloosa Track.

“This event isn’t sanctioned but it is certified,” Mason added. Interested runners may register the morning of the run at 8 a.m. The race will begin at 9 a.m.
