Longhorns shutout Eastwood Christian

In Week 2, the Marengo Academy Longhorns have as many wins as they did in all of 2011.
The Longhorns beat Eastwood Christian, 57-0, Friday night to improve to 2-0. Last year, the team finished 2-8 with victories not coming until Weeks 5 and 7.
The resurgent Marengo Academy team dominated on offensive and defense, leading 30-0 at half.
The fireworks got started with a 2-yard touchdown run by Josh Holifield, set up by the sophomore’s 58-yard scamper the play before. Christian Cook then scored off an 8-yard run to put thing at 14-0.
The team scored two more long touchdowns from Hayden Huckabee and Shade Prichett and added safety to end the first half with a comfortable lead.
After the break, Marengo Academy scored four more touchdowns.
On defense, Kyle Adams finished the night with 9 tackles and three assists, while Thomas Etheridge had five tackles and four assists. Shade Prichett had two interceptions.
The Longhorns (2-0, 1-0) hit the road for the first team next week, traveling to Jackson Academy.
