John Essex High School football coach Jerome Antone resigned from all of his duties as a football coach. Antone won the election for mayor in Georgiana Tuesday.
Brad Daniels will finish the season as the head coach of the Hornets.
Principal Tiffany Davis said they will complete the season as scheduled and go from there.
“After watching and observing the team and talking with students,” Davis said, “Coach Daniels has reported that all of the players are still on the team and that they will continue the season.”
Davis added that Daniels is excited to lead the team for the rest of the season. She also said that she would talk to him after the season about coming back next year as the full-time head coach.
“As of now, I would talk with him about next season,” she said, “and see if it’s something he wants to do. These last four games will help him gauge his interest as well.”
The Hornets’ last four games are at A.L. Johnson, at home against Linden, at home against McIntosh and at Monroe County. Their record is 2-4 at this point in the season.
