Tony L. Janes, 90, died Tuesday, July 30 at his residence in Livingston.

He was a native of Demopolis and a devoted member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He moved to Livingston in 1974, where he attended St. Francis Catholic Church, to become Postmaster at the Livingston Post Office. He retired from there in 1978. He was also a WWII Army veteran serving four years in the Pacific.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony Janes and Johana Kalcic Janes; his wife, Marcia H. Janes; four sisters, Francis J. Lee, Mary J. King, Rose J. Goulette and Julia Janes; three brothers, Frank Janes, John Janes and Joseph Janes.

He is survived by his daughter, Theresa J. Greenlee of Nashville, Tenn.; son, Louis C. Janes of Demopolis; and brother, Florian Janes of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Demopolis with the Rev. Larry Shinnick officiating. Interment will follow at Demopolis Memorial Gardens. Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel are in charge of arrangements. There will be a rosary on Friday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. at St. Leo’s Catholic Church.
