Herbert McCary, 90, of Tuscaloosa, entered into rest Saturday, May 3 at VA Medical.
He was a WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Army. Along with numerous medals and awards, he was given a Purple Heart for wounds he suffered in 1944 in the Pacific.
He is survived by his son, Mike McCary of Brent; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home in Centreville with the Rev. James B. Perry officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rockco Funeral Home Centreville directing.
Pallbearers were members of his family. Honorary pallbearers were the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center and the Community Living Center.
