Joseph Everett Lewis, 89, of Linden died May 1, 2017 at his home.

He was born Nov. 2, 1927 in Williston, Florida to Lee and Sarah Lewis. He was a retired pipefitter with James River Corp. and a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church in Linden.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley G. Lewis of Linden; six sons, Joe (Lynn) Lewis of Camden, Alabama; Mike (Debbie) Lewis of Butler, Alabama; Wayne (Wendy) Lewis of Linden; Eddie Lewis of Linden; Steven (Lindsay) Griffies of Waverly, Alabama; and Robby (Amy) Lewis of Linden; sister, Marzee Click of Saraland, Alabama; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn C. Lewis; two sons, Kenny Lewis and John Wayne Lewis; and his parents, Lee and Sarah Lewis.

Funeral services were held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, May 4, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Don Newton officiating. Burial was at Linden Memorial Park in Linden.
