Auburn University cornerbacks coach Melvin Smith will be the special guest at the Marengo County Auburn Club’s annual meeting in May.

The special event will be held Wednesday, May 1 at the Demopolis Country Club at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and are available for purchase at Holiday Cleaners or Robertson Banking Company Main Office in Demopolis or Papa’s Foods in Linden.

The club is working to fund an endowed scholarship for local students.

“We only have $3,000 to go. We need your help to do that,” said Katie Windham, club member. “We hope you will not only purchase tickets to the banquet but also consider a donation toward the funding of the scholarship.

“We can’t do this without your support. The sooner we fund the scholarship … the sooner we are sending a Marengo County high school graduate to Auburn University.”
