BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Dubbed the “Anonymous Seven” by head coach Glen Fanelli, the West Alabama men’s tennis team won its 13th consecutive match, defeating NCAA Division I opponent Western Kentucky, 7-0, Saturday to improve to 19-2 on the year.

UWA took the doubles point thanks to 8-4 victories by Nestor Vargas and Kike Ruiz in No. 2 and Honorio Fernandez and Manuel Grossmann in No. 3. The Tigers swept the singles matches, winning five of six in straight sets.

“I am proud of the ‘Anonymous Seven’ for defeating Western Kentucky for the second time this season,” Fanelli said. “Nestor Vargas played another outstanding singles match. At 22-2 in singles, he should be the athlete of the year.”
