The plane – traveling from St. Louis, Missouri to Destin, Florida – crashed approximately 10 miles west of Demopolis, 1 mile north of the Demopolis Municipal Airport.

Search and recovery efforts have been ongoing since last night and Reese said would likely continue through Monday.

“The Demopolis Mobile Command Unit was mobilized (Saturday) night,” Reese said. “Currently, the FAA, NTSB, Demopolis Police Department and Marengo County Sheriff’s Office remain on the scene and with the investigation.”

Reese said preliminary results point to engine trouble as the cause of the crash.
