Demopolis Times receives APA awards
The Alabama Press Association has recognized the Demopolis Times with two first place awards as part of its annual Better Newspaper Contest.
The Times brought home first place awards for Best Layout and Design as well as Best Spot News Story for Nichols Finch’s reporting on the burning of a Gallion church.
“The staff of the Demopolis Times is honored to be recognized for the hard work and effort they put in each day,” said Times Publisher and Editor Robert Blankenship. “We accept these awards as a sign we are on the right path and with continued focus and effort there will be even greater rewards in the future as we work toward our goal of providing the best community newspaper possible for our readers.”
The awards were officially announced during the APA’s convention in Destin, Florida on Saturday, June 18.
There were 2,775 entries representing 110 newspapers in this year’s contest. The entries were judged by the Louisiana Press Association.
