A Myrtlewood resident was arrested by the Linden Police Department for his involvement in a car chase on Dec. 14.

Oliver Anthony Jr., 36, was charged on Jan. 4 with attempting to elude for his involvement in the incident, which led to a LPD officer sustaining minor injuries and a police car being totaled in a one-car accident.

Police Chief Robert Alston, who was the arresting officer, said the investigation was aided by a confidential informant.

The Dec. 14 pursuit began at 8:04 p.m. when Officer Michael Harrington attempted to initiate a stop when Anthony drove past him at 92 mph on Alabama Highway 69 South and ended when Harrington ran off the road and clipped a power pole before hitting a tree at 8:05 p.m. Harrington was taken by ambulance to Choctaw General Hospital and was admitted at 9:30 p.m. with a laceration to his forehead and an injured right ankle and left arm. He received 16 stitches before being discharged at 2 a.m. on Dec. 15.

Anthony was processed at Linden City Hall and later released on an appearance bond.
