David Leon Taylor Sr., 77, of Demopolis passed away on August 19, 2016 at home.
David was born April 9, 1939, in Samantha, Alabama, to the late Tollie Omar and Estelle Maddox Taylor Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Jackson Taylor; son, David Leon Taylor Sr. of Starkville, Mississippi; step-daughter, Tammy Marie (Eric) Jones of Bay Minette, Alabama; step-son, Joe (Dee) Wright of Gallion; sisters, Sadie Ramsey of Northport, Alabama, Lula (Charles) Kornegay of West Point, Mississippi, Alma McGarity of Tupelo, Mississippi, Mattie Heritage of Northport, Linda Watkins of Tuscaloosa, and Betty (Walter) Smith; and a brother, Tollie “Rusty” (Myong) of Columbus, Mississippi.
Services were held Tuesday, August 23, at 11 a.m., from Kirk Funeral Homes-Demopolis Chapel with Rev. Ray Sullivan officiating. Burial followed in Demopolis Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers included: Joe Wright, Waylon Taylor, Charles Kornegay, Lula Kornegay and Rusty Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers were: Jim Mayberry, W.M. “Myles” Mayberry, Joseph Greene, Tommy Skelton, nurses and staff of Comfort Care Hospice, Slater Jones and Drew Jones.
