River City Soccer Club gears up for new season with ‘SoccerFest’ on August 19
The Demopolis River City Soccer Club (DRCSC) is gearing up for the 2017 Fall Soccer Season with open registration for the league already underway and lasting until Aug. 31.
Registration forms can be found at Firefly Boutique located at 919 Hwy 80 E in town and can be dropped off at the location.
Another drop off option for the forms will be at the DRCSC “SoccerFest” which will be on Saturday, August 19 at the Demopolis Sportsplex lasting from 9 a.m. to noon.
SoccerFest is for youth ages 4 to 18 and participants are expected to bring cleats, shin guards and a soccer ball. Registration for SoccerFest lasts from 8:30 to 9 a.m. with games beginning soon thereafter.
The cost to register for the fall season is $40. League registration is $40 for the first child in the family and $35 for the second. Registration forms received after Aug. 31 will be charged an additional $10.
Practices are scheduled to begin on Sept. 5 and 7 starting at 5:30 p.m. with practices and games are every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of October. “The little ones can expect to be out there for no longer than 45 minutes,” said DRCSC board member Jennifer Swims. “The older kids usually spend an hour to an hour and a half.”
