VFW Post 5377 receives Bibles from Demopolis Gideons

At the November meeting of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5377, members of the Demopolis Gideons International presented the post with 200 desert camouflage Bibles.

The VFW will distribute 200 pocket-sized desert camouflage Bibles to various groups and organizations. The Bibles were made available through Demopolis Gideons International.

“The Bibles will be used to provide hope, comfort and inspiration to a wide variety of groups and individuals that the VFW works closely with,” said Post Surgeon Phillip Spence.

The pocket-size Bibles contain the New Testament as well as Psalms and Proverbs and were turned over to the Post Chaplain Reverend Jesse Moore for safekeeping and distribution. According to Spence, members of the Demopolis High School JROTC and the crew of the USCG Cutter Wedge who requested a Bible have already received their copies.

“These Bibles were a much-welcomed gift from this outstanding organization and will be well used,” Spence said. “The VFW was thrilled to be selected recipients of this generous gift and would like to publicly thank the Gideon’s for their service and this donation.”
