Three local teams look to advance in playoffsBy Matt Cole Published 7:40pm Tuesday, November 12, 2013
After three of the six county teams were eliminated from the playoffs last Friday night, only three local teams remain in contention for state championships.
The Sweet Water Bulldogs, the Linden Patriots and the Marengo Academy Longhorns are still alive, and will be looking to advance further this week.
Linden (8-3, 7-0) will play Thursday night this week as they host McKenzie High School (9-2, 6-1). McKenzie’s losses came to Brantley and Goshen.
Marengo Academy (11-0, 6-0) hosts Abbeville Christian (10-2, 5-1) on Friday at Linden Athletic Field. This game is for a spot in the AISA Championship Game at Troy University next week.
Abbeville Christian’s losses came to Lowndes Academy and Restoration Academy.
Sweet Water (8-3, 7-0) will play host to G.W. Long (10-1, 6-1) on Friday night at Nolan Atkins Stadium.
G.W. Long’s only loss came to Houston Academy.
