Player of the Week: Anthony Robinson

Anthony Robinson plays without fear. It is a trait he carries with him in just about everything he does.

In basketball, he is the guy most likely to pull the trigger on a difficult shot with his team trailing. And in football, he is the guy most willing to do pretty much anything that needs to be done.

Last week against McIntosh, Robinson showed his tenacity from the opening series of the game.

With the Stampede moving the ball on their first possession, Robinson played well above his diminutive stature by climbing the ladder and pulling down an interception to halt the drive.

Then, the sophomore quarterback really went to work. He scored the Patriots first touchdown of the night with a 60-yard sprint in and out of traffic.

Later in the first half, he added another touchdown on a one-yard plunge.

Then there was that 76-yard punt return that set up another Linden score.

And just as it looked like he would be handing the ball off for the remainder of his night, Robinson went to the air for four third quarter touchdowns.

The first of those came on a 56-yard drop-back-and-heave to tight end Terris Lewis. That was followed by an 82-yard slingshot to wingback Gerald Bruno.

Robinson later tossed another touchdown to Najee Bright as well as a second scoring pass to Bruno. He also hooked up with Jorian Ravizee on his only two-point conversion throw of the evening.

All told, Robinson put together 381 all-purpose yards and six total touchdowns in the game. With the ability to burn defenses in so many ways, Robinson not only takes player of the week honors, but also gives his team a great opportunity to have a say in who comes away from Class 1A with a blue map.
