Linden, Wilcox Central could face penalties

Following Thursday night’s fight in the game between Linden and Wilcox Central, the Alabama High School Athletic Association is reviewing the incident to determine what penalties each school will face, if any.
Under the AHSAA ejection rules, the players that are determined to have been on the field and involved in the fight will bring a $300 fine per player to the school. This fine can be reduced to $100 per player if each student athlete takes the online STAR Behavioral Mode within 10 school days of the ejection.
If a player is facing his second ejection, he will be subject to a one-game suspension and a $500 fine to the school.
If it is determined that players left the bench to join the fight, they will face an automatic two-game suspension.
The head referee in the game signaled for 16 ejections for each team, but some of the numbers they gave the coaches did not exist on the teams. For Linden, nine of the 16 numbers were in use, but a couple of those players were on the bench and remained there throughout the incident.
